Build a tennis warm-up that reaches match speed
Move from easy rallying to directional patterns, serve rhythm and live points without rushing the first ball.
The goal of a tennis warm-up is readiness. A useful progression raises movement, timing and decision-making in stages instead of asking for maximum pace immediately.
Raise the temperature
Start with easy movement and dynamic ranges you can control. Add split steps, short accelerations and changes of direction before longer hitting. Stop any movement that causes pain.
- Easy movement first
- Controlled dynamic mobility
- Short court-specific footwork
Build the rally
Begin close to the service line with compact swings, then move back as timing settles. Progress to cross-court and down-the-line patterns while keeping targets generous enough to sustain rhythm.
- Compact contact
- Gradually increase court depth
- Add direction before maximum pace
Connect it to points
Find a smooth service rhythm before adding speed. Finish with a small number of points that begin from a serve or return. This adds the first decision of competition without turning the warm-up into a full match.
Train responsibly. Progress gradually, use a safe training area and suitable protective equipment, and stop if you feel pain. Seek qualified coaching or medical guidance when needed.
